Motor Insurance Database
Following the 4th EU Motor Insurance Directive introduced in January 2003, each
EU member is required to establish a centralised method of identifying who insures
a vehicle from its registration number. In the UK, this process is done via the
Motor Insurance Database (MID).
The Directive states that it is the motor trader’s responsibility to submit
to the MID details of vehicles bought and sold or owned by them that will be driven,
used or parked on a road or public place.

Continuous Insurance Enforcement:
Continuous Insurance Enforcement is a new and additional compliance approach to reducing the level
of uninsured driving in the UK. It applies to the motor trade. It requires insurance to be in place
for any vehicle which has not had a SORN declared. You must notify us of all vehicles being driven
under this insurance. You can read more about this in the MIB document
"Motor Trade and the MID".
You must also ensure that we are advised when a vehicle is sold. Failure to do so could result in
a claim you are not responsible for being linked to your policy. This could affect your premium
and any No Claim Bonus you are entitled to.
